A stated aim of NIHILISTIC is setting the record as straight as possible before memory no longer serves. There’s a fair amount of NYHC BS floating around about shows we supposedly played, shit that supposedly happened at those shows and jobs supposedly held by various band members. Today, let’s spend some time with this zombie bullshit:
I’ve used this obviously doctored image previously in a discussion of the only professionally-shot video of Nihilistics, (supposedly) destroyed when Mike Nicolosi’s Long Island basement flooded. I stumbled across this FAKE Black Flag/Nihilistics flyer again in the Facebook group 80’s punk gig flyers, posted by a naif wondering if the gig was in 1976 or 1982 (Jesus, dude… spend two seconds online). The brief video above lays out the discussion up to now. But, for the record, the Nihilistics NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER NEVER EVER played a gig with Black Flag, at My Father’s Place or anywhere else. This is more mythologizing and I know who’s behind it (can you guess?). Perhaps most offensive to me about the recent appearance of this nonsense:
“If you’re in the Texas band…” WTAF? You mean this shit? Mick’s referring to “Nihilistic Fit” (I spent two seconds online) and–beyond the fact it appears they stole their font from the “very active” “NY Nihilistics”–WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH A GIG THAT HAPPENED IN 1982, STUNOD?! I just don’t get how THICK people can be. And how EAGER they are to school you.
Mick, I was there. You gonna believe me or your lying eyes?
